Lurking in the Shadows, or in Step?

Have you ever wanted something that you don’t have, well of course you have.

Well that happened in the Bible too,

Genesis 3:1-6

Temptation of Man

Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field, which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, "You shall not eat from any tree of the garden"?

And the woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;

But from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, "You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.

And the serpent said to the woman, "You surely shall not die!"

For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate: and she gave also to her husband with her and he ate.

We know what happened from there, it was the fall of Man/Woman.

This is a sin that has plagued us forever…

"You know, wouldn’t it be nice to get out of the city and live in the country. "

"Yes it would be so quiet."

This thought has crossed our minds many a times.

And we continue with the dream of living in the country. We take action and start looking at homes, pricing the area, what kind of home do you want to have. How much money do we need?

Wait a minute, is there something wrong with this picture

YES there is, have we asked the Lord, what is His desire for us is?

Philippians 4 [6] Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Do you realize how many times we have set ourselves up for the same kind of fall that Eve did? Where were her eyes? Was she showing the light of the Lord?

And yet we all want to talk with her when we get to heaven, right? !

Well we should examine ourselves, do we live in accordance with our Heavenly Father, and listen to what He may want for us? Are we so caught up with the Jones’ that we forget whom we are serving?

Philippians 4: [19] And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

We should remember to keep Him in the center of every situation. He has called us to listen to Him!

Maybe, He has already told you what you are to do (in a certain situation), and for some reason you have not listened.

You need to remember this big illustration of what can happen when we do not listen…although this can not happen again (it can’t get much more worse then what Eve caused), it is a sin; to blatantly NOT listen to what you have been told NOT to do. Like a child, we need to learn this lesson again and again.

I heard one time that a preacher preached the same sermon for a month. Some of the people in the congregation asked him one day, what was up with that…his reply, "well I thought we needed to learn this, cause apparently we all have not, including me".

What better way to learn then to hear it more then once?

So in our efforts in trying to be more like our Heavenly Father, lets seek His wisdom and guidance in our lives. Not just in the big matters of our lives, but in every situation. Don’t just go to church to say you have gone. Seek HIM…that is what He is calling you to do! Seek Him, live for Him and be like Him!

Lord I humbly come before You, I praise You Father for who You are to me, and what you have done in my life. I praise You for all the things that You are going to do in my life in advance, Father I trust You completely. Lord I ask You to fill me with wisdom, courage to be more like You.

I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, who are wanting to be like but something is holding them back…fear, rejection, loss of friends. Lord I don’t know their circumstances, but I do know that You are so ever faithful, You never leave our side, in good/bad times. Father there are so many times we look to man to solve our problems, Lord I am sorry for offending You as my Father & Lord Father I pray that You give me this illustration reminder when I am headed in the wrong direction.

Lord I love you and I adore you, I lay my life before You…Take me Lord, and mold me to what you want me to be in Jesus’ name Amen!!!
